Is Photography Art? A great soccer manager, who, when asked whether football was a matter of life and death replied. "Nothing as trivial as that!"
This blog is intended to showcase the landscape photography of photographers who have moved beyond the pretty picture and for whom photography is more than entertainment.
>>>>As The Landscapist blog gains density and depth, I think you will find much interesting stuff buried in the Archives. IMO, it will be worth your time to explore a bit.
>>>> Email submission of photographs for publication are encouraged Not all photographs will be published. First consideration will be given to those photographs which, whatever their visual merits, instigate thought and discussion about the medium of photography. Photo files should be around 200k @ 72dpi with a maximum dimension of 900 pixels. Please include personal info and some words about any ideas regarding the medium that your photograph(s) addresses.
Comments, commentary and lively discussions are vigorously encouraged.

Jim,
I get the feeling that you are going away from something dark and into the light. Yet, I also feel a sense of shelter too, by that overhanging branch, in the physical sense, because it looks like it is raining and I don't want to step out into the clearing and get wet!
I just flat out like this photograph.
I feel as though I am approaching a tribal council. It will be interesting.
Feels like a good place for an open secret....I love this Jim! The lightness of the rock is emotionally and physically compelling.
